Virginia Tech coach Megan Duffy announced Tuesday the hiring of Stephen Fishler as the women’s basketball program’s first general manager.
Fishler will also have the title of assistant athletic director. According to a Tech news release, he will help construct and manage rosters, develop strategic goals, work with the development team and help manage personnel.
“As we continue to evolve into a new era of college athletics, a unique skill for our program’s development is critical,” Duffy said in the news release. “Stephen will be a perfect fit to support our student-athletes off the court. His ability to strategize, execute our vision and cultivate relationships at Virginia Tech and beyond is a game changer.”
Fishler was the women’s basketball chief of staff at Rutgers for the past three years. The Penn State graduate was the director of women’s basketball operations at Elon for five years before joining the Rutgers staff.
