Photos and video: 'Delphine Diallo, The Mythic Quest' on view at Roanoke's Taubman Museum of Art

The exhibit features six series of works from Diallo celebrating Black women. Her subjects vary from those she extensively interviews, working to form a personal relationship before taking their picture, to self-portraits and videography. Her most recent work uses artificial intelligence to combine digital and analog images.

A new exhibit, Delphine Diallo, The Mythic Quest is on view at Taubman Museum of Art. Katie Hirsch, deputy director of exhibitions with the Taubman gave a tour of the exhibit on Wednesday. "It really is Delphine's personal journey to ask and answer questions about the representation of bodies, particularly black female bodies in photography," said Hirsch "and the history of extraction, exploitation, sexualization, and how she can kind of turn that on its head and reclaim agency for herself, for her own body and for the subjects that she portrays." The Taubman is open to the public Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
