The Cleveland Guardians sent former Virginia Tech pitcher Nic Enright back down to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.
Cleveland promoted pitcher Andrew Walters from Columbus.
Enright, a reliever who was diagnosed with a rare form of Hodgkin lymphoma in December 2022, had been promoted from Columbus last weekend.
The Rocky Mount resident made his major league debut Sunday, pitching two scoreless innings and striking out three batters in a loss at Detroit.
Enright made his second big-league appearance Tuesday night in a 9-5 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He pitched the ninth inning, giving up a three-run homer to Max Muncy. He allowed two hits and one walk while striking out one batter.
Virginia Tech senior outfielder Cori McMillan was named a first-team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday.
McMillan, the ACC player of the year, hit .432 with 65 RBIs, a school-record 31 homers, a league-best 75 runs scored and a league-high .549 on-base percentage. She led the nation in homers.
Virginia shortstop Jade Hylton (Bassett) made the second team. The junior hit .362 with 52 RBIs, a school-record 19 homers and a school-record 64 runs scored.

UVa wins NCAA semifinal
Virginia beat 2023 NCAA champ Florida 4-1 in a match-play semifinal of the NCAA national championships Tuesday night in Carlsbad, California.
UVa’s Maxi Puregger beat Matthew Kress 4 and 3. UVa’s Josh Duangmanee beat Jack Turner 2 up.
Ben James of Virginia beat Luke Poulter 1 up to clinch the team’s win. On the 18th hole, he nearly holed his third shot from a greenside bunker. Poulter conceded the tap-in birdie.
UVa’s Paul Chang defeated Zack Swanwick 1 up.
Bryan Lee of Virginia lost his match.
UVa played Oklahoma State in the final Wednesday night.

UVa’s Davis advances
Virginia’s Keyandre Davis finished sixth in the men’s hammer throw with a heave of 218 feet, 10 inches Wednesday on the first day of the NCAA East outdoor meet in Jacksonville, Fla.
Davis earned a spot in the NCAA national championships. The top 12 finishers in each event at the NCAA East meet move on to the NCAA national championships.
